I have long been annoyed with the IRS for using my tax dollars to mail those tax packages in January. Sure it is nice to get all the forms and instructions to file my Form 1040 but who fills out the forms by hand anymore? If you do them yourself you use Turbo Tax and it prints the forms all ready filled out for you or you go online to irs.gov and use one of their fill in forms and then print the form out.
The IRS is taking this step because of continued growth in electronic filing and the availability of the free options as well as reduce costs. In October the IRS will send out a postcard notifying individuals who filed paper returns for 2009 and did not use a tax preparer or tax software that they will no longer receive a tax package in the mail.
If you happen to be in need for paper forms you can always visit the local IRS office at 301 South Howes St Fort Collins. The office is located on the 3rd floor. It has paper copies of most forms available. You can also visit irs.gov and search for the form you need. Most of the forms will come in an easy to use fill style so you can just type in your information and it will print off nice and neat or you can print the form blank and hand write on them.
